Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance (QA) for the PhD programmes of the University of Padua is developed in accordance with ANVUR’s AVA 3 Model and the provisions of Ministerial Decree (D.M.) 226/2021, which requires accredited institutions to adopt a structured system for the design, management, monitoring, and continuous improvement of doctoral education.

The primary objective is to guarantee a high-quality educational and research environment capable of fostering the development of PhD students’ scientific, professional, and soft skills, in line with the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).

From this perspective, each PhD programme adopts transparent procedures to define educational objectives and graduation profiles, plans and organises educational and research activities that are adequate and consistent with its mission, monitors the results achieved, and implements evidence-based improvement measures.

The active involvement of PhD students, faculty members, and the Academic Board represents an essential element of the QA cycle, along with continuous dialogue with the University Quality Assurance Board, the Evaluation Committee, and the competent institutional bodies.

Doctoral QA thus contributes to ensuring rigorous, internationally recognizable educational paths that fully respond to the needs of advanced research and society, ensuring the continuous improvement of the educational experience and the quality of the scientific results produced.

The Advisory Committee is appointed by the Academic Board. Its task is to assist the Coordinator in creating a harmonious schedule of the PhD programme’s scientific and educational activities—including through dialogue with Social Partners—and in carrying out monitoring and Review activities. Furthermore, it verifies the actions adopted by the Executive Board and the Academic Board to address any critical issues that may arise.

The Advisory Committee thus plays a consultative and steering role regarding the educational project of the PhD programme and the identification of employment opportunities. This consultative and steering role is particularly significant during the launch phase of a new PhD programme project, as well as within the scope of Monitoring and Review.
